Ayodhya Tours and Packages

An Ayodhya tour can turn a crowded temple town into a clear plan: a guide, a route and transport. This page explains what tours cover, what stays separate and how to choose.

Ayodhya tour packages at a glance

An Ayodhya tour usually links the main sights of the town: the Ram Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and the Saryu riverfront. These places are separate sites, each with its own queue and timings, so a guide mainly saves you planning, walking and waiting around.

Be clear about what you pay for. A tour fee covers the service, such as a guide or transport. It does not buy darshan at the temple. Sugam Darshan passes are free of charge, so never pay a third party for the pass itself. Choose a package based on what the description includes, and check the exact meeting point and times before you book.

If you would rather travel with your own car and guide, compare the private Ayodhya tours.

What to know before you book an Ayodhya tour

Five points that decide whether a tour works for you.

Darshan and passes

Sugam Darshan passes are free. A tour can help you with timing, but the pass itself should never be paid for through a third party. Darshan times change with the season, so ask the operator which timetable it plans around. See the Ram Mandir darshan timings.

Treta ke Thakur

This temple opens to the public only once a year, on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, usually in November or December. A tour that promises to take you inside on any other day is not accurate.

River and boat activities

Boat rides depend on the water level and local rules. In September 2026 rides at Guptar Ghat were paused during high water. Ask whether a boat stop is certain on your date.

What you carry

Phones, cameras, electronics and bags are not allowed inside the Ram Mandir area, and free storage is available outside. Covering clothing is recommended. Check the temple administration's current rules before you go and ask your guide how it works on the day.

Time and walking

Hanuman Garhi has 76 steps to climb, and the temple area involves walking in queues. A day with several stops is tiring in the heat. April to June is hot, so November to February suits heat-sensitive visitors better.

A one-day Ayodhya tour, hour by hour

A sample day under the winter timetable from 1 November 2026.

Early morning

Start at Hanuman Garhi, which is generally open from 04:00 to 22:00. A midday break is possible, so go early. The temple has 76 steps.

From 07:00

General darshan at the Ram Mandir begins at 07:00 under the winter timetable. There is a short pause for Bal Bhog around 08:00 to 08:10.

Midday

Darshan at the Ram Mandir pauses from 12:30 to 13:30 and resumes at 13:35. Use the break for lunch and rest out of the heat.

Afternoon

Kanak Bhawan reopens in the late afternoon. Hours are usually 08:00 to 11:00 and 16:30 to 21:00, with seasonal variations.

Evening

Finish at Ram ki Paidi for the aarti, around 18:00 in winter. Allow time to find a place on the steps.

These times follow the winter timetable and can change. Ask your operator which timetable the tour is built around, and check the temple administration's notices close to your date.

Ayodhya tours: frequently asked questions

What does an Ayodhya tour package usually include?

Most link the Ram Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and the Saryu riverfront. What is included in the price differs by operator, so read the description for guide, transport and entry details.

Does a tour price include darshan at the Ram Mandir?

A tour pays for the service, such as a guide or transport. Sugam Darshan passes are free, so do not pay a third party for the pass itself.

Can a tour take me into Treta ke Thakur?

Only on the one day a year when it opens to the public, Kartik Shukla Ekadashi, usually in November or December.

Is a day trip from Varanasi or Lucknow realistic?

Ayodhya is about 200 km by road from Varanasi and about 130 km from Lucknow. A day trip is possible, but it makes for a long day. An overnight stay gives you more time at the temples.

Are boat rides part of the tours?

Not reliably. Boat rides depend on the water level and local rules, so confirm that a boat stop runs on your date.
